This weekend home lifts its shared life to the upper floor, turning the golf course into the house’s primary horizon.

Situated within the landscape of the Golf Community, the house is shaped by two site conditions: the uninterrupted greens of the golf course and a pair of intertwined trees that stood as a natural marker on the plot. Set away from the road, the house remains partially concealed on arrival, revealing itself gradually through the garden, the existing trees and the landscape beyond. Its orientation responds directly to climate. The longer facades run east-west to reduce heat gain, while deep roof overhangs drop low along the southern edge, shielding the glazed upper level without cutting it off from the view. A raised clerestory roof brings soft north light into the interiors, giving the upper floor volume, brightness and ease.

Rethinking retreat through section, strcuture and landscape, Pool Villa allows the resident to hover between private and expansive living.
The bedrooms are placed on the lower level within a solid exposed concrete base, allowing them to remain grounded, shaded and private. Above them, the living, dining, games area and swimming pool form a lighter communal volume, held within a steel structure and opened towards the golf course. This inversion gives the house its defining experience. The upper floor becomes a continuous living environment, where full-height glazing, open terraces and infinity pool edges visually extend the interior into the landscape.
Movement through the house is centred around a sculptural staircase, composed as a sequence of platforms and volumes. The ascent slowly reveals the scale and openness of the level above. While connected, the two floors can function independently, allowing the upper floor to host gatherings while the bedrooms below remain undisturbed.
The material palette is direct and tactile. Exposed concrete gives the house its structural weight, black flooring grounds the interior, and natural wood brings warmth to points of occupation. Lime-based textured finishes add depth, while muted blue-grey tones and selective colour distinguish spaces without breaking the whole. Outside, the intertwined trees anchor a deck for gathering, while dense planting, manicured lawns and earth mounding soften the built mass.
