Marble Screen

Marble Screen | 2023

This marble screen explores the intersection of craft and computation; leveraging digital precision to transform stone into a performative surface that interacts with light and space.

This screen challenges the static nature of stone. Light reflects over the intricately inlaid marble, casting geometries that shift throughout the day. The design revisits Ahmedabad’s Tree of Life insignia, reinterpreting its ornamental vocabulary.
By mapping historic inlay techniques onto a computationally derived framework, the marble screen achieves both structural integrity and optical dynamism.

Marble, traditionally seen as monolithic, is rendered lightweight as it interprets light as an active architectural element. The precisely cut elements adorned with intricate inlay details shift the reading of form and depth through time.
